Police in Pakistan say 13 people were killed and 10 wounded today when a suicide bomber on a motorbike detonated his explosives near a police checkpoint in the northwest of the country.
Abdullah Jan, a local police chief, said the bomber sped toward the checkpoint to carry out the attack near the town of Swabi, about 100 kilometers east of Peshawar. The checkpoint was close to a camp set up by a religious political party for a public meeting in the town.
Jan said at least one police officer was among those killed.
