Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has ordered an independent commission to investigate the special operation by elite U.S. forces to enter Pakistan and kill Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden at his hideout in Abbotabad, Pakistan, at the start of May.
The five-member commission will be headed by Justice Javed Iqbal, a senior judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Pakistan's parliament has been urging such an investigation to learn how bin Laden was able to live in Pakistan without detection and how foreign military forces were then able to conduct an operation on Pakistani soil without informing Pakistani authorities.
