Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani says there is a conspiracy to remove his government before completion of its term in 2013.
"I want to make it clear today that conspiracies are being hatched here to pack up the political government," Gilani told a gathering at the National Arts Gallery in Islamabad on December 22.
Without identifying anyone by name, Gilani said some institutions were behaving like a state within a state, and he warned that everyone should respect the elected parliament.
Gilani also questioned the failure of Pakistani intelligence agencies to track down Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden -- killed by U.S. forces in May -- asking how bin Laden had been able to come to Pakistan and live there for years.
Gilani's government was elected in 2008.
Pakistan has seen four military interventions since its independence from Britain in 1947.
