Four Pakistani soldiers were killed when their military helicopter crashed on December 27 near the country's border with China.

The helicopter was evacuating the body of a soldier killed earlier in an avalanche when the crash occurred in the Gilgit-Baltistan region due to "technical reasons," according to a military spokesman.

The Pakistani military has seen several air crashes this year.

In February, a Mirage jet crashed during a training mission in Punjab Province.

In March, a Pakistani Air Force F-16 jet crashed near Islamabad during rehearsals for a military parade, killing the pilot.

In April, two pilots were killed when an army aircraft crashed in Punjab Province.
