Stunned Dnipro Residents Survey Damage From 'Horrific' Russian Missile Strikes

Residents examine a crater following a missile strike in Dnipro, southeast of Kyiv, on October 10.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the missile attacks "retaliation" for an October 8 explosion on the bridge connecting Russia to Crimea, a territory it seized from Ukraine in 2014.

Dnipro was hit with at least five missiles as Russia launched missile strikes across Ukraine, killing at least 19 people and wounding 105.

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg and European allies criticized Russia's "horrific" wave of air strikes.

Dnipro has been a logistical hub for humanitarian aid and a reception point for people fleeing multiple battle fronts.

At least 16 cities sustained attacks, Ukraine's national broadcaster reported, many of which had not been fired upon since this spring.

Investigators inspect a bus that was damaged when a missile struck just a few meters in front of it while it was driving.

The explosion by the bus shattered windows in nearby residential areas.

At least three civilians were killed during the attack that took place during morning rush hour.
