One person was reported killed and several wounded in the Kyiv attack.

This child was heard calling "Mama!" as a woman led her briskly to safety, away from the burning car behind them, following Russian air strikes on Kyiv on December 20.

This was the scene at just one of several blast sites in Kyiv, after the latest of a sustained campaign of drone and missile strikes by Russian forces.

Kyiv's St. Nicholas Church was among the buildings damaged.

A business center was also damaged, with a fire occurring between the 13th and 15th floors.

But these seasonal decorations went largely unscathed.

More than 600 residential buildings in the capital were left without heating as a result of the blasts...

...as were 16 medical institutions, 17 schools, and 13 kindergartens.
