Gunmen have killed two policemen in an ambush before setting fire to their vehicle in Samarra, north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad, local police say.
The officers were stopped while on patrol and shot with automatic weapons, according to a police official.
Separately, a Shiite militia leader has been killed along with his wife and three children in a targeted bomb blast at their home in Haswa, south of Baghdad.
Police have identified the dead man as a leader in the Mahdi Army, whose forces - loyal to the radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr - often attacked Sunni neighborhoods at the height of Iraq's sectarian conflict in 2006 and 2007.
