Polish President Opening Tour Of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia

Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski

Poland's President Bronislaw Komorowski is opening an official tour of the South Caucasian states of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.

The visit by the head of state of NATO and European Union member Poland comes after Poland at the start of July took over the rotating presidency of the EU.

Komorowski is beginning the tour today in Baku, where he is expected to hold talks with President Ilham Aliyev and other Azerbaijani officials on ways to deepen Polish-Azerbaijani economic ties.

The discussions are expected to focus as well on the future of the transport of Azerbaijani oil to Poland and other EU member states.

From Azerbaijan, the Polish president is scheduled to travel on this week to Georgia and Armenia.
