Russian President Valdimir Putin has held talks with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran to discuss the conflict in Syria. Both leaders are key backers of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and agreed that global powers should not impose their political will on Syria. Putin vowed to continue airstrikes in Syria until those responsible for blowing up a Russian airliner over Egypt are punished. Putin, who is in the Iranian capital for the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, also met with President Hassan Rohani. Ahead of the summit, Moscow formally eased an export ban on nuclear equipment and technology to Iran. (Reuters)
