Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken about the possibility of nationalizing Russia’s industrial facilities. Speaking at the congress of the Union of Russian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on April 25, Putin said industrial facilities could be nationalized "when actions or inactions of the companies' owners impose direct damage on the country’s security and national interests." According to Transparency International and the newspaper Novaya Gazeta Europe, since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, courts have received 40 requests to nationalize more than 180 private companies with assets of 1.04 trillion rubles ($11.1 billion).
