A moderate earthquake has struck off the coast of central Chile, but there were no initial reports of any damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.9 and struck some 130 kilometers northwest of the city of Conception.
The tremor struck in the same region as a massive 8.8 magnitude quake and the ensuing tsunamis that battered Chile a year ago, ravaging towns and roads and killing hundreds.
