Romania's center-right government has been toppled by a no-confidence motion that was proposed by the left-leaning opposition in a protest against austerity reforms.
The toppling of the government of Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu on April 27 comes just two months after he took office.
The no-confidence motion was backed by 235 lawmakers, four votes more than needed to topple the government.
President Traian Basescu now must nominate his choice for a new prime minister who then needs to present a governing program to parliament for approval.
Ungureanu took over leadership of the coalition in February from Emil Boc, who resigned after protests and austerity cuts.
