Irina Miroshnichenko, a popular actress in the Soviet Union in the 1970s and '80s, has died in a Moscow hospital, local media reported, citing her friends and colleagues on August 3. Miroshnichenko, 81, was hospitalized on June 30 with the flu. Born in the Siberian city of Barnaul as Irina Vainshtein, Miroshnichenko graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School and in 1964 played her first cinematic role in the romantic comedy Walking The Streets Of Moscow, which won a prize at the 1964 Cannes Film Festival.
