Prosecutors in Russia's second-largest city, St. Petersburg, asked a court on August 8 to convict and sentence anti-war activist Olga Smirnova to seven years in prison on charge of spreading fake news about the armed forces. The prosecutor also asked the court to ban Smirnova from administering websites for four years. The 54-year-old activist of the Peaceful Resistance movement was arrested in May 2022.
