MOSCOW -- Moscow police have detained at least 14 people for conducting an unsanctioned demonstration in support of people held in custody over the so-called Bolotnaya case.
Some 100 people gathered on the evening of November 6 on Manezh Square, next to the Kremlin, in an action organized by the Solidarnost movement to call for those still being held over a May 2012 protest on Moscow's Bolotnaya Square to be released as part of a general amnesty.
That 2012 antigovernment protest escalated into violent clashes with police on Bolotnaya Square, leaving scores injured.
At least 12 people are still being held for the Bolotnaya case, and one of them was convicted in October for participating in antigovernment unrest.
Those protesting on November 6 also demanded that other "political prisoners" be released, including members of the female punk performance group Pussy Riot.
