A court in Russia on February 13 rejected an appeal filed by Ukrainian journalist Serhiy Tsyhypa against a 13-year sentence he was handed in October by the Russia-installed Supreme Court of Ukraine's Moscow-annexed Crimea on espionage charges. The details of the case remain unclear, and it is unknown how Tsyhypa pleaded as the trial was held behind closed doors. Tsyhypa, a journalist and activist from the Ukrainian city of Nova Kakhovka in the Kherson region, went missing in March 2022, less than three weeks after Russia launched its ongoing invasion of Ukraine in February.
