Finland Apologizes To Russia For Blacklisting Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin

Finland has apologized to Russian President Vladimir Putin after its police mistakenly placed him on a blacklist of people with connections to criminal activity.

In a statement on April 10, Finnish Interior Minister Paivi Rasanen extended Putin "sincere apologies for the incorrect registry entry."

Finnish TV broadcaster MTV3 reported earlier in the day that Putin was placed in the secret criminal register for his contact with the Russian motorcycle club Night Wolves.

Finnish police later announced that Putin's name was removed from the list, and said they were investigating how it got there.
