Authorities in Russia's southwestern city of Krasnodar have offered contradicting explanations about a large fire near a military airport close to the city, saying "dry grass caught fire in an area far from the airport,” on March 3. Local residents, meanwhile, say a strong blast was heard in the area before the fire started. The city administration said the sound was a supersonic boom made by aircraft. Days earlier, Russian authorities said drones had been gunned down by anti-aircraft units in several regions, causing damage and fires, including one in Kolomna near Moscow.
