Authorities in the city of Khabarovsk in Russia's Far East said on April 5 that a state of emergency has been announced in the city's Industrialny district due to elevated levels of radiation. Access to the area in question has been restricted as specialists are working to locate the source of the radiation. According to authorities, the safety of city residents was not compromised by the situation. The RBK news agency says a scrap metal collection center is located in the affected area.
