Russia's Defense Ministry says it has successfully test fired a RS-12M "Topol" Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM).
The Defense Ministry said the ICBM was launched from the Kapustin Yar testing range in Astrakhan on December 27 and that it hit its target at the Sary-Shagan testing range in Kazakhstan "with desired precision."
Spokesman for the Russian Strategic Rocket Forces Igor Yegorov said, "The launch was designed to test a prospective warhead" for ICBMs.
