At least 15 people were killed and four more were injured on November 16 when a passenger bus collided with a logging truck in the western Russian republic of Mari El, local officials said.
The accident occurred on a regional motorway near the village of Vizimyary, some 70 kilometers southwest of the regional capital, Yoshkar-Ola, during heavy snow conditions.
Mari El Governor Aleksandr Yevstigneyev told Rossia 24 television that the bus drove into the oncoming traffic lane as it was trying to overtake another vehicle and ended up crashing into the logging truck.
Local police said late on November 16 the death toll had climbed to 15, including one woman who died on the way to the hospital.
Four other people have been hospitalized, two of them in grave condition.
