A 25-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman have been detained in Russia's Novosibirsk after an explosion due to a gas leak tore apart a residential building, killing at least eight people, including a 2-year-old child. The Investigative Committee said in a statement hours after the deadly explosion on February 9 that the suspects were residents of the neighboring Omsk region who represent an interregional company providing gas-stove services. The two could face a charge of providing services that do not meet safety regulations. Novosibirsk city authorities said 11 people were hospitalized and several people remained under the debris.
