A court in Russia's second-largest city, St. Petersburg, has closed a case on Holocaust denial against university professor Vladimir Matveyev due to the statute of limitations, the press service for the city's courts said on March 3. The probe against Matveyev was launched in January 2021, after the teacher at the St. Petersburg State University of Economy and the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration said during a webinar that the number of Jews killed during the war was "exaggerated," making the conclusion that "genocide of Jews" cannot be called a Holocaust.
