Thousands of anti-war protesters in Russia were detained by police on March 6 as demonstrations against President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine were held across the country. According to the independent protest-monitoring group OVD-Info, more than 4,800 people were detained in at least 59 different Russian cities. Protesters chanted "no to war" and were warned by police that their rallies were "illegal."
