Selena Gomez Cancels Concerts In Russia, Elsewhere

Selena Gomez is interviewed at the premiere of the film "Getaway" in Los Angeles, California, on August 26, 2013.

Selena Gomez has canceled several concert dates in Eastern Europe after the Russian authorities reportedly denied the pop star's visa request.

The singer was slated to perform in Minsk on September 20 and a day later in Kyiv before traveling on to Russia for concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

According to U.S. press reports, however, all concerts in all three countries have been canceled.

Organizers believe Gomez, who supports gay rights, fell victim to a controversial new law in Russia that bars "propaganda on nontraditional sexual relationships" to minors.

It is thought that the visa process for international musicians has become more rigid in Russia since Madonna and Lady Gaga spoke out for gay rights there last year.
