A Russian soldier opened fire at fellow servicemen in the Belgorod region that borders Ukraine before fleeing the site. The governor of the Graivoron district, Gennady Bondarev, told the state RT news agency on July 12 that there were no civilian casualties, but he gave no further details, including whether other soldiers were killed or wounded. Several Telegram channels, however, reported that two soldiers were killed and one wounded in the incident, which took place overnight. Some Telegram channels identified the shooter as Aleksei Zhuravlyov from Russia's Republic of Chuvashia. Officials have not commented on the shooting.
