One of Russia's new generation submarines has test fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
Russia's Defense Ministry said on November 28 the "Aleksandr Nevsky" had test fired a "Bulava" ICBM from an underwater position in the Barents Sea off the northwest coast of Russia.
According to Defense Ministry the test was successful and the missile hit its intended target at the Kura military range on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Pacific Ocean.
The "Aleksandr Nevsky" is one of Russia's new-generation nuclear submarines -- the Borei 955 class.
It was the second test of a Bulava ICBM is as many months.
At the end of October, another Borei-class submarine – the "Yuri Dolgoruky" – successfully test fired a Bulava missile.
The Bulava ICBM suffered many failures during years of tests but test launches this year have been successful.
