Russia Takes Over Online Tatar Language School After International Group Leaves

The website of Ana Tele, a popular online Tatar language school

The popular online Tatar language school Ana Tele (The Mother Tongue), which halted operations in June after the international Education First (EF) group left Russia, will resume its courses. The education minister of Russia's Republic of Tatarstan, Ilsur Khadiullin, said on August 16 that the online school will now operate locally on servers inside Russia. The school was launched in 2013 by order of Tatarstan's leader, Rustam Minnikhanov. Hosted by the EF's own website outside the country, the school had more than 100,000 users across Russia and in various countries where people registered to study the Tatar language.
