Russia's government on December 13 suspended taxes on imported eggs from January 1 to June 30, 2024, amid a sharp increase in prices last month. Egg prices jumped 15.1 percent in November alone, while since January the price of eggs has jumped 40.3 percent. Currently, the tax for imported eggs is 15 percent. Russia's Rosselkhoznadzor agricultural products watchdog said earlier this week that it had approved the importing of eggs from Turkey to help lower prices on the Russian market.
