The Tver Oblast court in western Russia has handed down jail terms, including a number of life sentences, to 10 admitted Islamic militants for their involvement in a train bombing in the region in November 2009.
The bombing of the "Nevsky" express train, which ran between Moscow and St. Petersburg, killed 27 people and injured 150 others.
Four defendants were sentenced to life in jail, while the other six received jail terms of between seven and eight years.
The trial of the suspects was held behind closed doors.
The 10 defendants, all from the republic of Ingushetia in Russia’s volatile North Caucasus, were found guilty of organizing a terrorist group, premeditated murder, and illegal weapons and explosive possession and use.
