A Russian defense company worker has been convicted and sentenced to eight years in a high-security prison for passing secret information about Russian ballistic missiles to a foreign intelligence service.
The verdict against Alexander Gniteyev was handed down in Sverdlov Regional Court in the city of Yekaterinburg.
He was found guilty of treason and espionage.
In addition to the eight-year prison sentence, he was also fined 100,000 rubles ($3,200).
The court did not disclose which foreign government he had been spying for.
Russian news reports said Gniteyev had handed over secrets related to the Bulava missile that has been developed for use in Russian nuclear submarines.
