The governor of Russia's Far Eastern region of Primorye, Oleg Kozhemyako has announced a state of emergency in the region hit by floods caused by Typhoon Khanun. Kozhemyako said on August 15 that the move was needed due to the absence of resources at the Ussuriisk city's administration to deal with damage caused by the ongoing floods, adding that the Emergency Ministry will assist municipal authorities. The typhoon-caused floods have cut off 27 towns and villages from major roads, and killed at least three people, including two children.
