On February 27, 2014, Russian troops wearing uniforms without insignia took control of the main government buildings in Crimea. Three weeks later, Russia annexed Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula following a referendum widely considered to be rigged. RFE/RL's Anna Sous spoke with 12 former post-Soviet leaders for her interview series, Russia & Me. Seven gave her their views on those events.
