Russia says it is ready to continue work on creating a safety zone around Ukraine's Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. The announcement on February 9 came after the head of state nuclear firm Rosatom met with UN nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi in Moscow. The Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant was seized by Russian forces shortly after they invaded Ukraine. Grossi has called for a safety zone to be created around it to prevent heavy weapons and shelling from causing further damage. Rosatom said its CEO "expressed the readiness of the Russian side to continue work on the implementation of the...initiative" after the talks with Grossi.
