The U.S. ambassador to Russia has condemned the Bloodhound Gang, a provocative American rock band, after its bassist desecrated a Russian flag at a concert in Ukraine.
Michael McFaul said in a tweet that he found the actions of the band "disgusting."
McFaul also condemned an assault on the musicians on August 3 by angry Russians at the airport in Anapa before they boarded a flight out of Russia.
The band's appearance at a festival in southern Russia was canceled and the musicians were forced to leave the country after video emerged of the incident on July 31 at an Odesa concert.
Bassist Jared Hasselhoff was shown shoving a Russian flag down his pants, telling the audience not to tell Russian President Vladimir Putin about the gesture.
