The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has banned the Russian Olympic team from the Winter Games in South Korea following allegations of a widespread, state-supported doping program. At a press conference in Lausanne, Switzerland, on December 5, IOC President Thomas Bach said that some Russian athletes who clear several strict anti-doping hurdles will be allowed to compete in Pyeongchang under a neutral uniform, but that the Russian Olympic Committee would be barred from participation. Moscow has denied any state involvement in the doping of Russian athletes. (Reuters)
