Russian Opposition Requests Permission For 'March Of Millions' In Moscow

Opposition leader Sergei Udaltsov

Sergei Udaltsov, leader of Russia's opposition Left Front movement, said a request has been filed with Moscow authorities to hold a "March of a Million" on May 6.

Udaltsov said the opposition wants to march along Tverskaya Street from Triumfalnaya Square to Manezh Square and then hold a rally.

Udaltsov said the organizers of the May 6 rally are prepared to meet with Moscow officials to discuss alternatives to their plan.

The action is timed to take place on the eve of Vladimir Putin's inauguration for a third term as Russia's president.
