Russia's government says it will not impose limits on Russian grain exports this year.

Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik told journalists that Russia has overcome the consequences of a severe drought two years ago that led to export restrictions.

Global wheat prices skyrocketed in 2010, when Russia banned exports after the hottest summer on record led to reduced production levels.

In 2009, Russia exported more than 21 million tons of grain and was the world's third-largest exporter.

Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov estimated that Russian exports could reach 27 million tons this year.
