Poland Detains Ex-Prosecutor Wanted By Russia

Poland has detained former Russian prosecutor Aleksandr Ignatenko, wanted by Moscow for his alleged involvement in a network of illegal casinos.

Poland's ABW domestic intelligence agency, which reportedly made the arrest, refused comment.

Ignatenko was taken into custody on a road leading to Poland's southern Tatra Mountains resort of Zakopane, where he was to meet his wife and child.

Reports say he was in possession of a Lithuanian passport.

In May, Russian authorities issued an arrest warrant for Ignatenko, who had been fired from his post as a prosecutor in April after the network of illegal casinos was cracked in the Moscow region in mid-February.
