Saving Buzludzha, Bulgaria's Mountaintop Communist Monument

Buzludzha is the biggest communist-era monument in the Balkans. Built on a mountaintop in Bulgaria in 1981, it's since fallen into ruin and its very future is at risk. Bulgarian and international experts have recently begun emergency repairs to the structure's unique mosaics, with work being funded by the U.S.-based Getty Foundation.
The Buzludzha monument features in an RFE/RL photographic tour of Bulgaria From Above.
