A Serbian war crimes court has sentenced 14 former Serbian soldiers to prison terms ranging between four and 20 years for the killing of 70 Croatian villagers in 1991.
The judges on June 26 said 22 residents of the eastern Croatian village of Lovas died after the former soldiers forced them to walk through a minefield, and another 48 villagers were killed in their homes.
The 14 ex-soldiers were found guilty of crimes against humanity.
They were part of the former regular army and paramilitary troops who fought against Croatia's independence from the former Yugoslavia. The Croatian conflict broke out in 1991 when it declared independence form the Yugoslav federation.
