Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, who is also acting prime minister, said on March 21 that relations with Russia and China are in Belgrade's "vital national interest." Speaking to Serbian media after meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow, Dacic thanked Russia for its "firm" stance and support for Serbia on the issue of Kosovo. A U.S. State Department spokesman, in response to a request from RFE/RL for comment on the meeting, said the United States does not believe any country “should provide Mr. Putin a platform to promote or justify his ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine."
