Serbia's army chief has sued a prominent human rights activist who had accused him of war crimes during the 1998-99 war in Kosovo.
Natasa Kandic, who heads the Humanitarian Law Fund group, said the libel suit filed by General Ljubisa Dikovic was politically motivated.
The rights group has alleged that Dikovic failed to prevent the execution of civilians, looting, and rape when he was a brigade commander in Kosovo in 1999.
Dikovic and Serbia's war crimes prosecutors' office have denied the accusations.
Some 10,000 ethnic Albanians reportedly died during the war in Kosovo.
