QALAT, Afghanistan -- Seven dead bodies have been found on the outskirts of Qalat, the capital of Afghanistan's southern Zabul Province.
The security chief of Zabul Province, Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewany, said the seven men are believed to be civilians killed by the Taliban on suspicion of cooperating with the government. Other reports, however, say the seven may be National Afghan Army soldiers who disappeared while traveling from southern Kandahar Province to their homes in neighboring Zabul a week ago.
The bodies have now been handed over to the army to help with identification.
