Former Hollywood child star and U.S. ambassador Shirley Temple Black has died in California of natural causes.
She was 85.
A statement said that "she was surrounded by her family and caregivers."
Shirley Temple became a huge star in the 1930s after appearing in films such as "Bright Eyes," "Stand Up and Cheer," and "Curly Top."
In her later years, she served as the U.S. ambassador to Ghana and was the first U.S. ambassador to postcommunist Czechoslovakia.
