Six Killed In Afghan Taliban Attack

Six Afghan security personnel have been killed when Taliban gunmen detonated a bomb hidden in an ambulance amid an attack on a police center near the southern city of Kandahar.

Kandahar Police Chief Khan Mohammad Mujahid said one suicide bomber pretended to be an ambulance driver and detonated his explosives after wounded officers were placed inside the marked rescue vehicle.

The ambulance arrived after several insurgents armed with assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenades started firing on the police building.

U.S. helicopters and armored vehicles rushed to support the Afghan troops battling the insurgents.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which reportedly lasted for about an hour.
