The relatives of a man being held in southern Russia on treason charges say they have not been allowed to see him for nearly a year.
Lawyer Oleg Yeliseyev told journalists on February 16 that his client, Pytor Parpulov, a former employee of the international airport in the resort city of Sochi, was arrested in March 2014 and charged with treason.
Yeliseyev added that Parpulov has not been allowed to see relatives since his arrest and does not yet know exactly what he is accused of doing. The lawyer said the case is not connected with the 2014 Winter Olympic Games that were held in Sochi in February 2014.
He is being held in a pretrial detention facility in Krasnodar.
Parpulov's daughter, Yulia, told the kavkaz-uzel.ru website on February 16 that her father's apartment was searched on the day of his arrest, March 5, 2014.
She said investigators told her that he is accused of passing classified information to foreign agents during a trip abroad in 2010.
