Officials say a motorcycle rickshaw packed with explosives detonated outside the southern city of Kandahar, killing at least two people.
Officials were unsure whether the attack, which took place in Kandahar's Dand district, went as planned.
Provincial spokesman Zalmai Ayubi said the bomb appeared to have been detonated by accident, but Assadullah Khalid, the minister of border and tribal affairs and the region's chief security coordinator, believes he was targeted as his car was nearby.
Khalid was not hurt in the attack, which officials said left at least 10 people wounded.
Officials said another suicide attack took place in another part of Kandahar today, leaving two soldiers wounded.
