Spanish police say they have broken up an Al-Qaeda-linked network suspected of sending fighters to Syria.
The Spanish Interior Ministry released a statement saying that eight suspects were arrested on June 21 in Ceuta, a Spanish territory bordering Morocco in northwest Africa.
The ministry said the network operated in Ceuta and the neighboring Moroccan town of Fnideq and allegedly recruited and sent dozens of Islamist militants, including some minors, to Syria.
Some of the militants reportedly carried out suicide attacks.
The statement said the suspects provided recruits with the money and means to travel abroad, based on orders from Al-Qaeda.
The suspects have been charged with belonging to a terrorist group.
Their identities were not immediately made available.
