Suicide Blast Hits Helmand Province

Local officials said two suicide bombers targeted the capital of Aghanistan's southern Helmand Province, wounding three people.

A spokesman for the provincial administration said one suicide bomber blew himself up in the town of Lashkar Gah, while police shot dead the other attacker.

Interior Ministry spokesman Zemarai Bashari said the men were also armed with rifles and intended to attack a government building.

Lashkar Gah is among seven towns and provinces where Afghan forces are due to take over security responsibilities from the NATO-led international force in July.

Meanwhile, officials in northern Faryab Province said a man dressed in Afghan border police uniform shot dead two foreign soldiers who were on a training mission.

NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said it was investigating the deaths of the two soldiers, who were killed inside a base.
